Mick was a well known musician from both the local and national scene. We're sorry to say he died very unexpectedly in late 2024 and he is greatly missed. We are however proud and honoured to have shared in his musical career over the years, and there is yet more music featuring his contributions with us yet to be published. He was most adamant that he wished it to be available and we will honour that sentiment.

He played bass as well as delivering a very recognisable lead vocal. He was an immensely powerful and expressive vocalist, at home bringing his approach to most forms of material including rock, blues and soul/funk. As he put it he loved to sort out the “stops, starts, farts and barks” in the music, a task he was eminently suited for, as he had a very famous set of tonsils on him.

He performed extensively in the South Yorkshire region in such bands as Shedd's on Fire, Shedds (the follow up band to that) and in the past Equinox and Fixer.  The latter band also worked in Europe. Pete and Mick had a short sojourn with the Jazz Rock Fusion band, ToshRollo back in the late '80's and renewed their musical partnership in the formation of ChinWig before kicking off the jam-band line-up of Pig’n’aif. ChinWig’s debut album ‘Be Upstanding’ featured Mick’s inimitable vocal stylings to great effect.

Mick worked with the Pig’n’aif family as a session  vocalist and sometime songwriting  partner to Pete. You can also hear his vocal output on ‘The Jester... Thinks...’  and the ‘Musicalis Grumpiosa’ albums. Mick also helped Pete with completion of the  Phoenix Rising album ‘After The Fire -The Music of Phoenix Rising’

For bass performances Mick used Trace Elliot, Crate, Boss equipment with his customised Fender Bass.  Live he used Shure microphones for his vocals.
